After the 2007 Monks’ Revolution in Myanmar, Than Zaw Aung represented many of the accused, including the controversial leader of the revolutionary movement, U Gambiya, several students, the National League for Democracy members and political activists.
During the 2010 general elections, Than Zaw Aung ran as a candidate from North Dagon constituency for Pyithu Hluttaw and carried on his political activism.
In 2011, he founded a legal aid group named LawKa PaLa from where he represented more than a hundred political activists, peasants, women and children free of charge.
Since 2015, Than Zaw Aung focused his attention on Media Law and Constitutional Law and has been elected as a Vice Chairman for Myanmar Media Lawyers’ Network following several years of activism with them. Through his work, he has had the opportunity to be the legal adviser to Reuters and some local media channels and press. He is also an Independent Consultant and acts for HHA Electronics, Shwe Thee Co and clients who are interested in investing in Myanmar.
